6 months!

It’s hard to believe that Anaiah is 6 month’s already!! She says “hi” regularly to us now. I swear she said it for the first time at 3 month’s old. I have the video some where.

Anyhow, she’s getting very vocal these days. Definitely trying to learn how to control her emotions. She’s angry one second, sad the next and then laughing. Luckily it’s fairly easy to redirect her and make her laugh.

She is still not sitting unassisted yet…well she can for a very little bit (maybe 5-10 seconds). And she has pulled herself a few times but not regularly yet.

So far her favorite foods are banana’s and sweet potatoes. She also seems to like peaches, peas and bread. She will eat carrots but it’s not a favorite. She does NOT like avocados and they made her sick last time she ate them.

3, 4 & 5 month update

I can’t believe Anaiah is 5 month’s already! I really should get better at blogging. Ideally I’d like to do it daily but I know that may not be realistic so I might do it weekly. I can’t remember who, but someone told me they used to jot down something that happened that day. I could do that and then compile it into a blog post at the end of the week. Sundays may be a good day for that actually!

Anaiah is such a good baby. She goes to bed around 7 pm and sleeps until 7 the next morning. Then she takes a 1 hour nap around 9:30 and a 3-4 hour nap around 12:30-1.

Today however she didn’t take a nap until around 10 and slept till 1. I fear if she doesn’t take a small nap this afternoon that she will be wanting to go to bed for the night at 5 or 6.

Anaiah recently started looking at the dog. Yesterday she actually giggled at him. It was really cute! Nikko is getting better with the baby. He even rolled onto his back once or twice for her! Check out this video of Nikko playing with her

I feel very blessed that I am able to stay home with her and watch her grow. I would miss out on the small things if I had to work.

On another note I’m grateful for my friend Judi. She watches Anaiah for me once a week so I can have some “me” time. Lately “me” time has meant going out and running errends but in the future I hope to use atleast some of this time for sewing. My mom got me¬†this¬†sewing machine for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it!

My first project will be baby blankets. I found a really nice place to buy high quality minky and plan on getting some fabric to make some blankets to sell on Etsy. I’m mostly making them because they are easy and quick….and it will help me get to know my machine better. My machine can monogram too so I’ll make a nice monogramed blanket for Anaiah first. Then maybe make one for my niece too!

saying good bye *edited*

Our birth mom decided to take Liam back so a social worker is coming to pick him up tonight between 8 and 9. We are utterly heart broken. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to us. It was hard to call my mom and break her heart.

edited to add a few photo’s that we took our last few hours with Liam. 2 of the pictures are kind of foggy. Not sure how that happened. You can really see in the pictures how his head had grown over the past 2 weeks.

Edited to add : Here are some video’s we took the day he went home. It has taken me a while to be able to even post these. I decided I didn’t want to make an entirely new post so I’m updating this one:

Liam has started smiling. It’s so cute! He mostly does it after he nurses LOL. Sometimes he does it in his sleep. I need to get a picture of it. It’s really cute. He’s also learned to put his fist in his mouth when he wants to suck. To cute. I usually end up nursing him at that point but it’s cute none-the-less that he’s starting to sooth himself.

He LOVES the swing my mom bought him. What a life saver that has been. He will fall asleep in it so quickly. I used to put him in his crib but he takes naps in the swing now. SOOOOO much easier to get him to sleep that way! He also loves to be swaddled but seems to get out of every swaddle. He loves to poke his hands through the top. I just ordered these so hopefully I can get a tighter swaddle. They are also lighter material then the wraps we have right now. And I personally like to actually do my swaddle but needed better blankets.

He does not like the moby wrap. I might try it again when he’s older. He screams so loud when I put him in it. I was really looking forward to “baby wearing” but I guess that might have to wait. It took us at least 1/2 hour to calm him down the last time I tried putting him in the hug hold in the moby. I do have a maximom carrier that a friend gave me quite a few years ago. it’s not the best and a little complicated to use but it’s something for now. It’s like the bjorn but you can carry on your back or front. In facing or out facing. I really wanted a carrier for when I go for walks or go to church vs keeping him in his car seat.

My mom and grandmother game up to help out last week and to visit with Liam. It was so nice to have help around the house. They cooked meals and cleaned my bathroom and kitchen. Both of which needed a good scrubbing. now all I need to do is get the office and our bedroom cleaned and organized. *sigh*

Our miracle is here!

Liam Joseph was born on 4/22 at 10:30 am. He weighted 6 lb 3 oz and was 19 3/4″ long. Jon and I got to meet him for the first time on 4/23. The first night in the hospital with him went great. He slept and ate really well. Here are some pictures we took in the hospital.
