First foods!

Anaiah stopped sleeping through the night right around 5 month’s old so I decided to start her on solids. We are doing baby led weaning so I skipped rice cereal and went right for banana’s. She wasn’t quite ready to chew yet so I mashed them up and she loved them! After about 72 hours we introduced carrots. She doesn’t like them quite as much as banana’s but she doesn’t dislike them either. About a week after that I decided to try Avacado. Not only can she not stand it (the taste makes her gag) but it also made her throw up 😦 So for now Banana’s and carrots.

Here are a few good web sites for anyone that is interested in reading into it:

This site tells you what are good first foods.

This site goes over baby led weaning in more detail

For your viewing pleasure here are a few pictures. Speaking of Anaiah she is demanding my attention so off I go. I really am going to try to blog/journal more. Some of my posts may be private though so we’ll see.

3, 4 & 5 month update

I can’t believe Anaiah is 5 month’s already! I really should get better at blogging. Ideally I’d like to do it daily but I know that may not be realistic so I might do it weekly. I can’t remember who, but someone told me they used to jot down something that happened that day. I could do that and then compile it into a blog post at the end of the week. Sundays may be a good day for that actually!

Anaiah is such a good baby. She goes to bed around 7 pm and sleeps until 7 the next morning. Then she takes a 1 hour nap around 9:30 and a 3-4 hour nap around 12:30-1.

Today however she didn’t take a nap until around 10 and slept till 1. I fear if she doesn’t take a small nap this afternoon that she will be wanting to go to bed for the night at 5 or 6.

Anaiah recently started looking at the dog. Yesterday she actually giggled at him. It was really cute! Nikko is getting better with the baby. He even rolled onto his back once or twice for her! Check out this video of Nikko playing with her

I feel very blessed that I am able to stay home with her and watch her grow. I would miss out on the small things if I had to work.

On another note I’m grateful for my friend Judi. She watches Anaiah for me once a week so I can have some “me” time. Lately “me” time has meant going out and running errends but in the future I hope to use atleast some of this time for sewing. My mom got me this sewing machine for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it!

My first project will be baby blankets. I found a really nice place to buy high quality minky and plan on getting some fabric to make some blankets to sell on Etsy. I’m mostly making them because they are easy and quick….and it will help me get to know my machine better. My machine can monogram too so I’ll make a nice monogramed blanket for Anaiah first. Then maybe make one for my niece too!
